DescriptionChild's (probably a boy's) pinafore of white cotton with a woven check pattern. The dress has a wide, slightly rounded neckline in front, which continues over the shoulders and slopes down to form a V-shaped center back. The center back opening fastens with two mother of pearl buttons. More buttons are stitched as decoration along the back neckline edge up to the shoulders. The 6 1/4-inch long shirt is gathered to the bodice; this seam is piped. The sleeves consist of two-inch-wide self-fabric ruffles, edged with machine-made lace. The neckline edge is also trimmed with this lace. The armscyes are piped, and the bodice is gathered all around the waistline.
