DescriptionTwo-story clapboard and stone building. Gable roof has brackets and center cupola. Probably a view of the back of the building, there is a small addition near the center with a tall smokestack and a pipe or chute at the right corner with metal container at end over a low roof. There is another one-story building at the right side of factory. Trees in background on left. There is a path or road in the foreground. Inscription on front: "Pratt Read & Co, West Factory. Deep River, Conn. E. R. LaPlace"

NotesSubject Note: Once called Saybrook, the town was named Deep River after its largest community in 1947, retaining Saybrook in another district. Pratt, Read and Company manufactured ivory combs, piano and organ keys and bone products from around 1865 to late 1940s.
