DescriptionWoman's white cotton slip, with a plain, tubular body lightly gathered onto a nine-inch-deep yoke of white cotton crochet. The neckline is very wide and would have been controlled originally by a ribbon drawstring woven through the crochet. The armholes have a 3 1/2-inch-wide scalloped ruffle of the crochet for very short sleeves. A tuck of varying depth is hand-stitched around the hem to alter the slip's length. This may have been done by the original owner.
