DescriptionWoman's white cotton nightgown, with a wide neckline gathered on a pink silk ribbon. The top of the nightgown, for a depth of about 6 1/2 inches, front and back, is made of horizontal strips of floral embroidery, worked with a herringbone stitch from the back to make it look like shadow appliqué, alternating with machine-made insertion threaded with pink silk. This insertion, without the ribbon, surrounds the armholes. The sleeves consist of flounces, 8 1/2 inches deep at the top, four inches deep at the bottom, with the floral embroidery decorating the edges.
