DescriptionView of Danbury from Deer Hill. Two men are seated in the right foreground. The figure sketching is probably a self-portrait. Following the fence down the hill toward the Universalist Church, the most elevated spire. The building to the left with a spire is the Academy. To the right of the church is the jail with the ancient burying ground behind it. Across the street from the jail is the Courthouse. The hills in the background are largely cleared, except for a few trees.
