DescriptionWhite silk satin shoes with an oval toe, Louis heel, and latchets which cross the vamp and would have been held by a buckle. The tongue is wide and square, with a slight dip in the center. The continuous leather sole covers the front of the heel. The heel is also covered with the white satin. The silk is lined with plain-woven linen and bound with white silk tape. There is no rand. The shoes are straight, not right and left. The vamp has been split and whip-stitched to finish the raw edges in order to make the shoe a bit wider across the instep.
