DescriptionBlack satin shoe with pointed oval toe, narrow Louis ("Italian") heel, pointed tongue, and two latchets which would have buckled over the instep. The satin is lined with plain-woven linen and bound with black satin ribbon (much wider than is generally used). The continuous leather sole covers the front of the heel. The shoe is straight, but the pattern of wear suggests that it was worn on the right foot.
