NotesSubject Note: The Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company was based in the mid-West. They manufactured sporting equipment and were the first to popular bowling balls made of vulcanized rubber. Earlier bowling balls were made of wood. In 1916, the company offered a prize to the bowler setting up the highest single string at big pins at a charity bowling carnival at the Temple Street Bowling Alleys in Hartford.On View
