DescriptionEquestrian portrait of a man wearing a military uniform, including epaulets, boots, sword, and gloves. He holds the reins in his left hand and raises his hat with his right hand. The horse is rearing and is equipped with an elaborate bridle, saddle, and saddle blanket decorated with stars. In the left background is a line of soldiers and a cannon attended by a gun crew. The fortifications at the far left appear to be constructed of cotton bales.
