InscribedOn verso, center, in black ink, "To Mother/Augustus Funk"NotesSubject Note: Augustus H. Funk (spelled Funck in the record) was from Bristol, Connecticut. He enlisted on July 22, 1862 and was mustered in to the Sixteenth Regiment Infantry Company K on August 24, 1862. He was wounded on September 17, 1862 at Antietam, Maryland. He was captured with the rest of his regiment on April 20, 1864 in Plymouth, North Carolina. He was discharged on June 23, 1865. It is not clear that this photograph actually depicts Augustus H. Funck, since Funck mustered in as a private and this man is wearing an officer's uniform. (Ruocco, 05/10/12)On View
