DescriptionFine linen chemise with an eyelet-embroidered yoke worked with a floral vine design. The yoke is pointed at center front and center back. Two small mother-of-pearl buttons close the center front yoke opening. The neckline is wide. The front and back panels are gathered into the yoke with fine, stroked gathers. The sleeves are short (8 3/4 inches) and are also embroidered around the opening. The armholes are reinforced with an extra layer of linen. Ths sleeves are cut with a gusset shape; they are seamed at the top of the arm and under the arm. The lower body of the chemise is pieced at the side seams to create flare. These pieces are hand-stitched selvage-to-selvage. The flat-felled side seams and hem are machine-stitched.
