NotesSubject note: Sophia Hamersley was born in 1842. She was the youngest daughter of William James Hamersley, the sister of Elizabeth, Ogden, and William Hamersley. A daguerreotype showing her as a young girl (2011.63.81) was taken while she a pupil at the "Farmington School," presumably Miss Porter's School. (Ruocco 3/10/12)
