He attended Trinity College and Harvard Law School. He served for many years as State's Attorney and later as a judge of the Superior Court and as a justice of the Supreme Court of Errors. He was twice married, first to Cynthia Williams and later (1882) to Jane Allen, of Old Saybrook. He died in Hartford on 17 September 1920. (Ruocco, 03/10/12)
