DescriptionA woman and a small boy stand at the left of a marble monument, consisting of a high rectangular base surmounted by an urn and a rustic cross. A man and a small girl stand at the right. The woman wears a long-sleeved black dress, gloves, and a shawl trimmed with fringe. Her left hand rests on the base of the monument. She holds a handkerchief in her left hand. Her right hand rests on the shoulder of the boy, who wears a short, tight jacket and pants. A bonnet lies on the ground in front of the monument. The man wears a coat, necktie, top hat, gloves, and trousers. He holds a cane or walking stick in his right hand. He has a beard. The girl holds his left hand with her left hand. She wears a dress with a wide neckline and low shoes. She holds a wide-brimmed straw hat. A weeping willow at the right arches over the monument. A Gothic church steeple is visible above another tree in the left background.
