DescriptionClear glass bottle filled with blended rye whiskey. The bottle has raised molded lettering on the front and back towards the top that is the same in both locations and reads, "FEDERAL LAW FORBIDS SALE / OR RE-USE OF THIS BOTTLE", at the bottom in flat indents on the front and back bottom edge it reads, "ONE / QUART." The bottom of the bottle has raised molded lettering that reads, "D23 /65-41", and there is also a bottle maker's mark at the left. The bottle has the original paper tax seal across the top, although it is broken. The seal reads, "U.S. Internal Revenue / Tax Paid", "1 Quart", “BOTTLE STAMP", and "DISTILLED SPIRITS". A rectangular paper label is affixed to the front of the bottle. It has a black background and has "GFCo." in a laurel wreath at the top, and reads, "FOX'S / PRIVATE STOCK / Blended Rye / Whiskey / 90 PROOF / Blended and Bottled for / G. FOX & CO. / EST. 1847 HARTFORD / CONNECTICUT". A rectangular paper label on the back of the bottle has been partially worn away, but reads in part, "[Bl]ended and bottled by / [Hiram] Walker & Sons, [Inc.] / Peoria, Illinois", and, "BLENDED RYE WHISKEY / 90 PROOF/ The straight whiskey in this [pro-] / duct is 4 years old. Fifty-one [per] / cent [stra]ight whiskey, Forty-nine / per ce[nt] neutral spirits d[istilled] / from [grain.]"
