DescriptionA dappled gray horse drawing an open carriage is tied to a hitching post in front of a frame commercial building. The name "John Kane" is stenciled on the glass of the shop window at the right. Signs in the window read: "Monongahela / Pure Rye / Aurora / Whiskey" "J. Rupperts / Extra / Lager Bier [sic]." Lamps in the two front windows appear to be gas lights. A man smoking a pipe slouches in the doorway. A framed drawing [?] is in the window at the left. This doorway has a double swinging saloon door.
