The jacket closes at the neck with a 2 1/2-inch loop of thin black braid looped around a gutta percha button with an eight-pointed star design. A matching button is stitched to the opposite side. The round neck is bound with self-fabric. The skirt is pleated onto the waistband, which is stitched with buttonholes for attaching to the child's shirt (no longer extant).
