Allen & Tracy

American
BiographyAllen & Tracy was the partnership of Amos Denison Allen (1774-1855) and Frederick Tracy (1792- ca. 1822). Frederick Tracy was the youngest son of Ebenezer Tracy, Sr., who was well known as a maker of Windsor chairs. Frederick Tracy most likely received most or all of his training (beginning in 1808) from Amos Denison Allen, his brother in law. Frederick Tracy probably finished his apprenticeship with Allen in 1813. He likely stayed on in the Allen shop as a journeyman. The two men later became business associates, as substantiated by various documents dated 1817-1819.
