BiographyEbenezer Tracy was the son of Andrew Tracy and a direct descendant of Lieutenant Thomas Tracy of England who settled in Norwich, Connecticut, in 1659-1660. He was the head of the Tracy family of craftsmen and was the most prominent figure in the Norwich area in the production of Windsor chairs. Ebenezer Tracy married three times, having nine children. All three of his sons, Elijah, Ebenezer, Jr., and Frederick, became furniture makers, and two of his daughters married furniture makers (Lydia married Amos Denison Allen).
