DescriptionTwo blown three-mold colorless lead glass decanters and stoppers. Each decanter (.a) has a flared lip, an inverted conical ribbed neck, a baluster-shaped body, and a flat rayed bottom with a pontil mark in the center. Each decanter was formed by blowing glass into a three-part mold with a raised geometric "sunburst" motif, in this case consisting of vertical ribs at the neck, diagonal ribs at the shoulder, a band of diamond diapering, then a band of square diamonds with sunbursts inside circling each decanter. Finally, the lower portion of the sides of each decanter is ribbed; these ribs continue onto the bottom of each decanter to circle the pontil mark in the center. There is a small hole, or puncture, in the side of decanter .1a at the shoulder. There are light scratches on the inside of the neck of both decanters. Additional lead glass was added to the flared rim of decanter .2a, perhaps at the time of manufacture.

Each stopper (.b) consists of a globular finial above a tapered portion that fits into the neck of the decanter; the tapered portion of stopper .2b is ground glass. Each finial is decorated with a raised pattern of ribs above and below a band of diamond diapering. The very bottom of stopper .2b was removed or broke off.

Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
