DescriptionA young man dressed as a sailor in a short jacket, striped jersey, trousers, and buckle shoes approaches from the right. He wears a scarf or necktie loosely knotted around his neck and carries his hat in his left hand. A bundle tied to a stick is on the ground behind him. A three-masted sailing ship is in the right background. In his right hand, the sailor holds the right hand of a young woman approaching from left. She wears a dress with gathered decorations on the bodice, and an apron. The open door of a small building with a shingled roof is behind her at the far left.
