DescriptionA young man dressed as a sailor stands on a grassy lawn beside the corner of a small building, probably a house. He wears a tight-fitting short jacket, a shirt, a necktie, and trousers. He holds a hat in his right hand. A young woman at the right has her right arm around his neck. She wears a low-cut dress trimmed with gathering and ruffles, an apron, and pendant earrings. In the background, a rowboat is tied to a peg with a rope. A three-masted sailing ship is at anchor in the background.
