DescriptionFour airplanes with Unites States insignia on a bombing raid fly over a port. Buildings and ships on the ground have been hit and are burning, sending smoke into the air. Two large splashes in the water apparently were caused by falling bombs; puffs of smoke in the air apparently are due to anti-aircraft fire.
NotesSubject Note: The Martin Marauder B-26 was a medium bomber used mostly in Europe during World War II. B-26s were used in support of the invasion of North Africa in 1942 and in bombing raids in Northwestern Europe. Although most Marauders were scrapped after the end of the war, one French bomber squadron continued to use the aircraft into the 1950s. (Finlay 4/1/2010)
