DescriptionThree men in uniform are walking away from an airplane with United States insignia which has just landed on a wet and muddy runway. Additional aircraft are in the background. Clouds are in the sky.
NotesSubject Note: The Northrup Black Widow P-61 was developed in 1941 as the first United States military aircraft specifically designed to use radar. It was first used in 1944 by night fighter squadrons in Europe and the Pacific. Following the war, a few Black Widows were sold as surplus for civilian use. The last Black Widow in military service was retired in 1950. (Finlay 4/1/2010)
