Horatio Alden
American, 1792 - 1858
BiographyHoratio Alden was born on 1 May 1792 in Stafford, Connecticut. He was the son of Capt. Joseph Alden (1753-1832) and Lydia Hyde (1761-1839). He had eight siblings.
He married Philura Deane (1798-1881), who was the daughter of Jesse Deane (1764-1828) and Hundall Deane (1774-1799), and granddaughter of Silas Deane, Jr. (1737-1789). They had at least five children: Adeline Eliza Alden (1816-1820), Philena Deane Alden Barton (1818-1840), Jesse Deane Alden (1821-1860), William Cumming Alden (1826-1884), and Isabella Graham Alden Thomas (1828-1921).
Horatio lived in Hartford. He died on 5 March 1858 and is buried in the Old North Cemetery in Hartford.
