BiographyMaurice P. Murray, 78, of Storrs, the husband of the late Alice (Pavelonis) Murray died Monday (February 27, 2006) in Manchester. Born in Stafford Springs, he was the son of the late Maurice C. and Helen (Cusick) Murray. Maurice retired from the Hartford Courant as Head Photographer after 35 years of service. He was a US Navy veteran, a member of American Legion Post 14, the Rockville Lodge of Elks, the Stafford Fish and Game Club, the St. Thomas Aquinas Round Table and the Hartford Courant Thomas Green Club. He is survived by his sons and their spouses, Dennis and Linette Murray of Manchester, and Kevin and Mary Ann Murray of Manchester; his grandchildren Lance Corporal Daniel K. Murray of California, Christopher C. Murray of Manchester and Kathryn M-E Murray of Manchester; his siblings Timothy Murray, Michael Murray and Catherine Sequeira and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his siblings Patrick Murray, Sean Murray and Mary Perrotti. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 3, at 10:15 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, Main St., Manchester followed by burial in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Hospice, 114 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
