BiographySarah Elizabeth Colton was born in Hartford on October 15, 1831, daughter of Nathan and Sarah (Chauncey Baker) Colton. On November 22, 1854, she married George Kellogg. Their only children, twins, were born and died on September 1, 1859. George Kellogg died in 1888, when Sarah was 57. Sarah was active in the Women's Christian Association on Church Street in Hartford. She served as president, and after she retired, she was elected honorary president.

At the time of her death on January 4, 1908 in Hartford, Sarah was living at the Farmington Avenue Hotel. According to her obituary, published in the Hartford Courant on January 6, 1908, she had been living at the hotel for 15 years, "most of the time as an invalid."
