William D. Clark Sr.

American, 1901 - 1987
BiographyWilliam D. Clark, Sr. was born on 1 May 1901 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was the son of James Henry Clark (1854-1915) and Katherine (Sullivan) Clark (1862-1949).

In 1925, he married Gertrude Stocking (1902-1988). They had a son, William D. Clark, Jr.

In 1919, Clark began his career as a reporter at the Bridgeport Telegram. He then worked for the Associated Press, Fort Lauderdale Daily News, Fort Lauderdale Morning Sun, and the New Haven Times-Leader. In 1932, Clark joined United Press International (UPI).

He died on 24 January 1987 at Hartford Hospital.
