DescriptionNinth-plate ambrotype of a young woman, identified on an inscription beneath the image plate as Emma C. Burdett at the age of 18. She is wearing a dress with a row of buttons down the bodice, a white collar, and what may be a wide belt at the waistline. Her hair is parted in the middle and fashioned into plaits in buns at her ears.
