DescriptionBlack leather open tab men's shoes, with oval toe and low, stacked heel. The vamp is decoratively seamed following the contour of the outside edge. The tabs, which slope upward in the direction of the ankle, lace with a black synthetic fiber shoelace tipped in plastic through three pairs of punched eyelets, which are reinforced on the back with metal grommets. The tongue is cut one with the vamp. The quarters are lined with gray leather; the vamp is lined with plain-woven cotton. The tongue is lined with fuzzy cotton (or synthetic fiber) material. The sock lining is brown leather with a black leather heel piece. The welted sole is leather stitched to rubber. The top piece of the heel is thick black rubber.

The fight took place at the Velodrome in East Hartford; it went fifteen rounds, despite the fact that Bat Battalino broke both of his hands in the fourth. He remained champion until 1932, winning 58 of 88 bouts, and experiencing only one knockout defeat. Bat Battalino retired from the ring in 1940.
