DescriptionGroup of six buff-colored earthenware breakfast cups with a blue-tinted glaze, a type of ceramic known as pearlware. The breakfast cups each have a circular form with slightly curved sides and a tall, vertical foot ring. They are decorated with hand-painted, underglaze cobalt blue motifs, beginning with an abstract design of a single flower and leaves on a stem found on the inside bottom of each cup. A border circling both the inside and outside of the rim consists of two solid blue lines. Beneath the two lines, a series of overlapping semi-circles complete the border. This same border is found on the outside rim of each breakfast cup as well. On the outside sides of each breakfast cup are four evently-spaced abstract leaf designs.
All of the breakfast cups have crazing over their surfaces, and all but one breakfast cup (.1) have yellowed. Breakfast cup .3 is the darkest of the group, while breakfast cups .4, .5, and .6 have patches of discoloration. Breakfast cup .1 has a chip on the outside of the rim with discoloration surrounding it. Breakfast cup .2 has one larger chip on the inside of the rim, with two smaller chips as well. Breakfast cup .3 has one small chip on the inside of the rim, and a second chip on the outside of the foot. Breakfast cup .4 has one small chip at the rim. Breakfast cup .5 has a band of discoloration around the middle. Breakfast cup .6 has irregular discoloration at the sides and foot.
