DescriptionWoman's day dress of machine-embroidered cotton, consisting of a bodice (.a) and a skirt (.b). The fabric is embroidered with white thread along the skirt border and on the front of the blouse in an eyelet design of stylized flowers and triple berries on vines. The bodice has a V-shaped neckline and pointed center front and back waist. The center front of the bodice is inset with plain, fine, white linen. The fastening of the center front opening is set in the plain linen, largely covered by the embroidered cotton; this fastening consists of thirteen small, thread-covered buttons. The bodice front is fitted with two vertical darts on both sides, while the back fitting is achieved by cutting the bodice pattern in six pieces. The plain cotton sleeves are slightly full and gathered into the shoulder and into a wide cuff, edged with scalloped eyelet embroidery. The bodice is unlined.

The skirt is gathered into the waistband, with the fullness concentrated in the back. The waistband fastens at the center back with a metal hook and eye. The embroidery pattern is worked perpendicular to the warp, so that the scalloped border pattern, which forms the skirt hem, runs along what would normally be one selvage edge. The skirt is one length of fabric, seamed at the center back only. The skirt is unlined.
