DescriptionWoman's day dress of white cotton printed with scattered, small pink tulips, consisting of a bodice (.a) and a skirt (.b). The bodice has a high, round neckline with a 1 3/8-inch-high band collar. Seventeen mother of pearl buttons fasten the center front opening. The bodice front is decorated with two rows of pink and white scalloped eyelet embroidery stitched in a V from the waistline to the shoulders. The lower edge of the bodice is pointed at the center front and center back. The bodice is fitted with two nine-inch-long darts on each side of the front; the back is cut with six pieces to achieve a close fit. The closely fitted sleeves are cut with an upper and lower seam and are slightly curved at the elbow. They are set smoothly into the armscye. The wrist openings are edged with the pink and white eyelet embroidery. The lining of the bodice is plain white cotton; there is no boning.

The skirt is gathered into the 3/4-inch-wide waistband of plain, white cotton, with the gathering slight in the front and close in the back. The waistband has been overlapped on either side of the center back so that the gathering is very thick. The waistband closes with a single mother of pearl button. A 1 3/4-inch tuck is taken around the bottom of the skirt. There is an inseam pocket on the proper right side.
