DescriptionSixth plate daguerreotype portrait of Mary Betts Corlies, seated, and her young son, Henry H. Corlies, standing next to her. The photographer is unknown. Mary is wearing a dress trimmed with buttons down the front of the bodice. The long sleeves are generous and are wide at the wrists, the lace undersleeve visible beneath. Her white lace collar is fastened at the throat with a brooch. Her hair is worn parted in the middle and pulled back into low wings or puffs above her ears. She is holding Henry's right hand in her right hand, and her left arm is around his shoulders.

Henry is about two years old. He is wearing a short-sleeved plaid dress that is hand-tinted red. His white collar is rounded. His hair is curly, and worn in a style that shows off three sausage curls atop his head.
