DescriptionWoman's wedding dress of cream colored rayon satin. The dress has a sweetheart neckline, and a row of self covered buttons running down the center front to the waistline, which is pointed upwards. The long sleeves are lightly gathered at the shoulder and taper to a narrow wrist, which is pointed over the top of the hand. The skirt which has a long train is gathered into the waistline, except at the center front which is left smooth. The dress opens on the proper left side with a zipper. The dress is not lined, but it has a self fabric facing around the neckline, which is piped. Vertical darts in front and back provide fit. A printed fabric label stitched inside the zipper opening reads: "NEW YORK / Creation / N.Y. DRESS INSTITUTE/ Made under standards of / I.L.G.W.U. / A581865."

NotesHistorical Note: Barbara Doty married Francis Kane at Plymouth Congregational Church in Thomaston, Connecticut, on 11 October 1941. The wedding was performed by Reverend Carlson at 2 PM. Eleanor Doty Roberts, Dorothy Doty, Lucille MacRoberts, Virginia Kane, Dorothea Gross, and Marci Roberts were bridesmaids, and Lawrence Kane, Richard Kane, and Fred Schuster were ushers. The bride wore matching pumps and a borrowed veil, and she carried nosegay, white carnations, and pink rosebuds.
