DescriptionSmall girl's dress of red and white woven check cotton. The dress has a high, round neckline edged with a narrow ruffle made of a tape woven with a red-on-white scalloped design. The ruffle is headed by another decorative narrow tape woven with a design imitating featherstitching. The bodice center front is box-pleated from the waistline to the neck. The same tapes used for the neckline ruffle are stitched in curves suggesting a bolero vest effect from the front of the shoulders to the sides. The long sleeves are full and gathered into the armscye and into the wrist cuffs, which are also decorated with the woven tape ruffle. The waistline is high; the white "featherstitched" tape is stitched around it. The skirt is full and gathered into the waistline. The center back opening extends 12 1/2 inches and fastens with four mother of pearl buttons.
