DescriptionRound, Chinese export porcelain tea bowl (.a) and saucer (.b) with gilding and overglaze enamels in blue, black, and orange. There is a similar crest, or pseudoarmorial, in the center of the saucer and on the side of the tea bowl. It consists of a shield with branches of leaves on either side. A small orange plant is in the center of the shield, and a bird rests on a gold and black platform above. On the saucer, this pseudoarmorial is surrounded by a line of blue arrows at the inside of the rim. A second border at the outside edge of the rim consists of a line of blue dots, then a solid blue band overlaid with gold stars. The tea bowl has a similar series of borders with a line of blue dots at the outside rim, with a line of blue dots then a solid blue band overlaid with gold stars on the inside of the rim. There is a small blue enamel flower on the opposite side of the pseudoarmorial on the tea bowl.

The tea bowl and saucer have lost gilding, most noticeably along the wider blue border. Additionally, the pseudoarmorial on the saucer is more worn than the pseudoarmorial on the tea bowl (a pattern of wear consistent with use over time). There is a hairline crack running from the rim toward the center of the saucer.
