DescriptionPieced quilt in the Star of Bethlehem pattern. The quilt consists of a pieced top made of hand-stitched plain-woven cotton, and a white plain-woven cotton backing; the two layers are joined with a hand-stitched quilting pattern. The star is constructed of concentric rings of diamond-shaped pieces of red, white, and blue fabric around a central eight-pointed star. Each corner of the quilt has a pieced flat with nine stars and thirteen stripes. All four sides of the quilt have a red, white, and blue shield at the center edge. The quilting pattern follows the shape of the pieced pattern with parallel lines on the white portion of the quilt. Each edge of the quilt is finished with red straight grain fabric binding.

Condition: The quilt is moderately stained and yellowed. A linen sleeve is hand-stitched to the back of the quilt, at one side.
