DescriptionWoman's work or day dress of black/white chambray cotton fabric. The neckline is high and round; the waistline is round, and the shoulderline is dropped. The sleeves are long and straight, and gathered into a 1 3/4-inch-wide cuff at the wrist, which closes with a white ceramic button. A separate cap edged with beige and cream silk fringe decorates the top of the sleeve. The fabric of the bodice front is controlled in narrow pleats at the center front waistline; the fullness is then released over the bosom and pleated again into the shoulderline. The dress closes at center front with brass hooks and eyes. The neckline is finished with a narrow binding; the armscye seams and waistline edge are piped. The bodice is lined with brown plain-woven cotton. The side seams and front darts in the lining are boned with baleen. The fullness of the skirt is gathered into the waistline. The skirt is lined with a five-inch-wide strip of brown glazed cotton around the bottom.
