DescriptionCamera Lucida with box. The box is rectangular in shape with black faux leather covering. The box top is attached to the box bottom by two hinges on the back. A clasp on the front secures the top shut. The box top has mark in the center written in white which reads "CAMERA LÉON LUCIDA". The word "LÉON" is surrounded by a white oblong circle. The box interior is lined in red fabric on the top and containes a faux velvet lined instrument holder in the bottom. The camera lucida is seated in the center of the holder with four small glass lenses in slots at the bottom. There is an instruction manual seated in the box top.

The camera lucida is metal and consists of a prism with slot for a lens attached to a boom, which retracts and extends, attached to a clamp to secure the instrument to a table or other flat surface. On the clamp is written "CAMERA LÉON LUCIDA" on one side and "MADE IN JAPAN" on the other.
