DescriptionOval serving dish and platter of buff-colored earthenware with a blue-tinted glaze, a type of ceramic known as pearlware. Both the dish and the platter have a translucent green glaze over different raised decorations.
Dish (.7): The dish has a scalloped rim with two kinds of raised decoration. First, just inside the edge of the rim, are three rows of fish scales. Second, at the edge of the rim, is a raised feather design, where the curve of each feather creates the scalloped edge of the rim. A translucent green glaze has been applied to the raised feathered edge, but not the scales. There are light scratches over all the surfaces of the dish.
Platter (.8): The platter has a slightly undulating rim with a raised decoration of grapes and grape leaves placed about every inch along a raised decoration of plain leaves. A translucent green glaze has been applied to the edge of the rim, which covers about half the depth of the raised decorations. There are light scratches and crazing over all the surfaces of the platter. The scratches are heavier on the bottom, and there are a few spots of a dark yellow substance adhered to the bottom of the platter.
