DescriptionLarge, oval platter of buff-colored earthenware with a blue-tinted glaze, a type of ceramic known as pearlware. The platter is plain, with the exception of two concentric borders of raised decoration at the scalloped rim. The edge of the rim is decorated with raised, curved lines that look like feathers. This portion of the border is also painted with underglaze cobalt blue. Inside of the feather border is a pattern of fish scales, or scalloped lines, about one inch deep. There is crazing in the center of the platter, as well as one spot of light brown discoloration. There is a chip on the inside edge of the rim, and several spots of dirt on the bottom of the platter.
