DescriptionWoman's magenta plush hat with a low crown and wide brim with an undulating edge. The brim is covered with matching pink feathers that are given extra texture by stripping the ribs of the fibers at regular intervals. Two hat pins with iridescent pink heads are stuck in the crown. The edge of the crown is wired; the wire is pulled down in tabs on each side to hold the hat on the head. The inside of the crown is stamped: "MERRIMAC / Merri-Soie." A woven tape label is glued to the inside of the crown: "G. Fox & Co. / EST. 1847 HARTFORD."
