DescriptionA small child, probably a boy, lies asleep on the ground. His head rests on his right arm, which rests on a small hill. He wears a dress with short sleeves, and a scabbard hangs at his side. The sword lies beside him on the ground, near a large broad-brimmed hat with two plumes. A large shaggy dog lies behind him, with his head turned to look at the child. They are in an open grassy area with flowering plants in the left foreground, trees in the left background, and hills or mountains in the right background.
