DescriptionElevations, plans, details and sketches of the Hartford Fire Department No. 3 building show a two and one-half story Italian Renaissance style fire house of stone and pressed brick, with quoins, and a large arch, centered over three sets of glazed double doors. A rectilinear parapet has block corners and an arch in the center reading "1911". Plans include a first floor with horse stalls, a fire apparatus room for a wagon, truck and tower, recreation and work rooms, and an office. The second floor includes 15 small rooms, a hayloft, main hall, shower, and a bath. A cellar plan shows the hose rack and hose trough, plus trap doors, coal bin, and gas hot water heater. A roof plan shows locations of ventilators and ridged skylights over the main hall. Also included is a large drawing for a wall plaque with the names of the Fire Department Commissioners, architect, and contractor.
