DescriptionSpun Britannia coffeepot with a flaring, conical lid that has a small mushroom-shaped finial at the top; the lid is joined to the body of the coffeepot with a hinge at the rim. The body has straight, tapered sides, a flared base, and a flat bottom. The body has raised bands of molding at the rim, a raised band at the shoulder, and molding at the base. At one side of the coffeepot is an ear-shaped handle with a scroll at the top and on the terminal. At each end of the handle, a short cone attaches it to the body of the coffeepot. The handle is slush cast and soldered to the body. The entire handle, except the cylindrical portions where it attaches to the body, is painted black. Opposite the handle, an S-shaped spout is soldered to the body; the base of the spout is applied over several holes that are punched through the side of the coffeepot. The body of the coffeepot has many small dents and light scratches. The black paint on the handle is flaking.
