DescriptionSeven men in Putnam Phalanx uniforms with swords at their sides pose on a grassy lawn. One man's hat has a plume; the other men wear caps. Behind them is a large crowd of men and women. On the right are two women and a man wearing a coat and bowler hat, leaning against a tree. Bicycles and a wooden rush-seat chair are nearby. In the background are trees and a large shingled pavilion with a penthouse on the roof.

The recto of the mount has a center frame surrounded by a decorative scroll design and corner fleurons.
