DescriptionTall, slender decanter with stopper, made of blown and engraved colorless non-lead glass. The decanter (.a) has a flared lip which is turned up on two opposite sides, a cylindrical neck, sloping shoulders, a cylindrical body, and a flat polished bottom. The decanter has stained red sides. An engraved pattern on the neck, shoulder, and body of the decanter reveals the colorless glass below. The spiraling pattern consists of a thick vine with large leaves and bunches of grapes at regular intervals. The interior of the neck was ground to receive the stopper. The body of the decanter has several light scratches or small spots where the stain has worn off.
The non-lead glass stopper (.b) consists of a spherical finial with a hollow center above a tapered portion that fits into the neck of the decanter. The exterior of the finial was cut into facets; the corners between the facets and the top of the finial were stained red. The cut corners of the stopper have many small chips and wear to the red stain.
