DescriptionBlown and engraved colorless non-lead glass tumbler with a dark grey tint. The tumbler has a plain rim, thick tapered sides, a thick base, and a rough pontil mark on the bottom. The tumbler is finely engraved with the initials "L.S." inside an oval-shaped foliage wreath above Masonic symbols. The Masonic symbols, arranged in three lines below the initials and wreath, include an eye inside a rayed triangle, a sun, a six-pointed star, a moon, a compass and square, and a mallet, among others. These are located inside a semi-oval of finely-engraved foliage sprays. The tumbler had a lid at one time (now missing).
There is a ring of light scratches and wear on the bottom of the tumbler. Additional scratches are located on the bottom interior of the tumbler, and the exterior.
Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
