DescriptionTwo gallon, small-mouthed, buff-colored stoneware jar with a rolled rim, narrower neck, rounded shoulders, a cylindrical body, and a flat bottom. The jar is coated on the exterior with a salt glaze and on the interior with a brown slip glaze, or Albany-type glaze. To one side, below the neck, is an impressed mark, S.L.PEWTRESS/ NEW HAVEN CT/ 2". There are many small, light scratches and indentations on the exterior surface of the jar. There is crazing over all of the salt glazed surfaces of the jar.
